During my meditation I observed that the development of attention and stillness results in a richer experience of every moment. I observed that the slower the mind, the more it perceives.
Thus, it is my view that a dream of a few seconds can feel like a lifetime because of the stillness of the mind and the quality of consciousness. I call both these qualities mindfulness.
Perhaps with enough practice, one would be able to tell how many grains of sugar are in each sip of tea. And perhaps the great practitioners of mindfulness can spend an eternity experiencing a single moment.
Perhaps eternity is not the endless continuation of time. Rather it is the endless discovery of newness in a single moment.
